Lord knows it's hard to come up with themes and promotions, especially when you face a weekly or even monthly deadline. A Savannah hotel's August theme shows just  how desperate marketers can get sometimes. Here's the first few paragraphs of their release:

"COCKTAIL 101:  AVIA SAVANNAH GETS AN A+ FOR ITS MIX OF
BACK-T0-SCHOOL LIBATION SPECIALS FOR AUGUST

AVIA A-Listers Receive a Complimentary Signature Small Plate
with the Purchase of any Featured Cocktail

Savannah, Georgia-- (August 4, 2011) -- It's almost time to hit the books, and AVIA Savannah is heading back to school armed with its list of must-try libations.  During the month of August, AVIA A-Listers receive a free signature small plate with the purchase of any featured cocktail.  To become an AVIA A-Lister and receive exclusive offers, visit www.aviahotels.com.

Making the grade are five refreshing cocktails including The Post It Note, a muddling of raspberries with Pisco, lemon juice, simple syrup, old-fashioned bitters and an egg white.  The Teachers Pet lives up to its name with a blend of Absolut Vanilla, Kahlua, Baileys Irish Creme, Frangelico, Dark Godiva Chocolate, and White Creme de Coco.  Those with a penchant for punishment will enjoy Playing Hooky featuring Effin Cucumber Vodka, Chipotle Vodka, Bloody Mary mix, Tabasco, celery bitters and muddled cucumbers rimmed with Old Bay and garnished with pickled okra.  It's worth being late for The Tardy Slip with its mix of Patron Silver, Agave Nectar, Lavender Herb Bitters, pineapple juice and fresh basil leaves.  The Demerit is really a rewarding blend of muddled raspberries, Stoli Razz, simply syrup, and Prosecco with a garnish of seasonal berries."

I wonder if they offer free and/or reduced prices for Title 1 students?

Words like "historic," "epic," "colossal" are being used to describe the Braves' September. Unfortunately "failure" normally follows those words. CNN on Hinesville/Fort Stewart

That was a pretty good report on CNN last night about the Pentagon’s decision to not add a brigade to the 3rd Infantry Division. It focused on the affect the decision has had on Hinesville/Liberty County. It was presented as a news story on Wolf Blitzer’s Situation Room. The story ...
